IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sverre
Neraasen
November 12, 1904 – October 25, 1965
Sverre Neraasen was born on November 12, 1904, at Vardal, Gjovik, Norway, the son of Bernt and Syverine Neraasen. As a child, he was baptized and on October 15, 1919, confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Kvarving at the Hauga Lutheran Church in Norway. Together with his older brother, Peter, Sverre came to America at the age of 18. He worked as a hired hand until the spring of 1927 when he and his brother began a partnership in farming in the Boyd community. On June 28, 1936, he was united in marriage to Gladys Fern Sumner by the late Rev. Emil Benzon. They began life together on the farm on which the family still resides and which they purchased in August of 1941. To this union two sons were born, Curtis and Ronald. Curtis and his wife, the former Joyce Iverson, reside in Minneapolis with their two children, Traci Lynn, 2, and Scott Sverre, two months. Ronald is at home. Sverre had rheumatic fever as a boy which led to his illness later in life. In 1956 he was advised to take a complete rest, which he did. On October 27, 1961, he suffered a major stroke, from which he never regained his health. On Sunday, October 24, 1965, he suffered another stroke and peacefully entered eternal rest Monday morning, October 25, 1965, at his Maxwell Township home, at the age of 60 years. Sverre was always a cheerful person and bore his illness without complaint. He appreciated visits of his relatives and friends who called on him during these past four shut-in years. He was preceded in death by his mother in May of 1946; his father in May of 1948; and a brother, Hans, in May 1957. Left to mourn his passing beside his wife, Gladys, two sons, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, are six brothers: Magnus of Goodrich, Michigan, Peter of Dawson, Minnesota, and Lars, Ole, August and Trgyve in Norway; five sisters: Borghild (Mrs. Harold Nyberg) of Madison, Minnesota, and Anna, Hilda, Valberg and Solveig, all of Norway; one aunt, Mrs. Clara Brandsrud of Maple Lake, Minnesota; and one uncle, Hans Neraasen of Riley, Alberta, Canada; and a number of other realtives in Norway and America.
