Stewart Edmund Johnson was born December 23, 1888, at Cannon Falls, Minnesota, the son of Stene and Jensine (Otterness) Olson. The family moved to Hazel Run in 1892. Stewart ran an implement business in Hanley Falls, Minnesota from 1920 until 1941. In 1926 he married Lily Wilson who died in 1941. Stewart and Sverre Idland operated a tile factory in Clarkfield from 1946 until Stewart's retirement in 1951. In 1956 he married Emma Ness and lived on the farm until his death at the Clarkfield Community Hospital on Thursday, February 23, 1978, at the age of 89 years. He is survived by his wife, Emma; two brothers: Guy of Clarkfield and Eddie of Prospect Park, Pennsylvania; two sisters: Gladys Edmunds of Clarkfield and Hazel Johnson of Willmar, Minnesota; and step-son, Kermit Ness. Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters: Ruth and Thelma; two brothers: John and Raymond. IN MEMORY OF STEWART E.
