Stewart O. Berg was born May 14, 1906 to Bert and Ellen (Otterness) Berg on the farm in Hazel Run Township. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran Church of Stony Run Township, where he was a lifetime member. He attended Rural School in Hazel Run Township and in later years served as a School Board member. He assisted in operating the family farm with his dad until 1935 when he purchased it. Stewart was united in marriage to Thelma Benson on June 16, 1940. They continued farming until his retirement in 1979. In 1985 they moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota. He was an active member in the Bergen Lutheran Church, the Farm Bureau, and other community affairs. Stewart passed away on Sunday, November 6, 1994 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his wife, Thelma, son Leslie Berg and wife, Meredith of Hudson, Wisconsin, and daughter Corrine and husband, Keith Benson of Robbinsdale, Minnesota. Also surviving are Grandchildren, Kari and Kristin Berg and Angela and Ryan Benson and sister, Frances Mork of Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters and three brothers. Blessed be his memory.
