Obituary

Steven Nicholas Walters was born on June 7, 1952 at Canby, Minnesota to parents Nick and Bernice (Eide) Walters. He was baptized on June 17, 1952 at St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township and renewed his baptism vows through Confirmation on May 22, 1966 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Steve attended Clarkfield High School and graduated with the Class of 1972. He then attended Canby Vocational-Technical School and graduated in 1974. Steve and Karla Loose were married at Zion Lutheran Church on August 18, 1979. Steve and Karla were blessed with three daughters: Kristel, Kelly, and Dayna. They farmed southwest of Clarkfield until he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and in November of 1989 they moved to Clarkfield. Steve loved the outdoors and farming. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends and also working in his rose garden. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Steve entered Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo in 1995 and was a resident there until his death on Tuesday, October 21, 1997 at the age of 45 years, 4 months, and 15 days. He is survived by his wife Karla and daughters: Kristel, Kelly, and Dayna of Clarkfield; his parents Nick and Bernice Walters of Boyd; and his mother-in-law Mrs. Bev Loose of Clarkfield. He is also survived by brothers Michael (and Peggy) Walters and Ray (and Mary) Walters and brothers and sisters-in-law Joey and Elaine Coubal and James and Tammy Loose and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents Ray and Esther Eide, Peter and Magdelina Horsch, Leonard and Hulda Loose, and father-in-law Arlen Loose.
