Steven Ordell
Lovsness
August 13, 1955 – February 18, 1991
Steven Ordell Lovsness was born August 13, 1955, at the Granite Falls Hospital, Granite Falls, Minnesota, to parents, Ordell and Myrtle (Anderson) Lovsness. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He attended public school in Cottonwood, Minnesota, and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1973. Steven enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was trained as a specialist in aircraft maintenance in Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois. He was stationed in Tokyo, Japan and received an honorable discharge on March 31, 1977. Steve was a fourteen year member of A.A. and was very active in helping others. He worked for Amway and was self-employed as a dealer in firearms called "S & L Sales" of Cottonwood and was a member of the Cottonwood Golf Club. Steve graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris, and was very active in dramatics and summer theater. He acted in "Under the Gaslight", "Mixed Doubles", "As You Like It", and "Scrooge". Steve grew up on the shores of Spillman and North Lake on his parents Century Farm. Tim Pehrson now farms the acreage and is the fifth generation to work the farm. Steve, 35, died early Monday morning, February 18, 1991, at the Granite Falls Hospital following a brief illness which culminated in a ruptured spleen. Steve is survived by his parents, Ordell and Myrtle Lovsness of Cottonwood; his three sisters and their husbands, Brenda and Dan Skaret of Lusaka, Zambia, Africa, formerly of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, Connie and Kenny Pehrson of rural Cottonwood and Ina and Iver Christopherson of Redwood Falls, Minnesota; three nieces; six nephews; and seven great nieces and great nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anton and Selma Anderson and Edward and Cara Lovsness.
