Steven Lee Dack, age 42, died suddenly at Seymour, Tennessee, on September 15, 2002, as the result of a heart attack. Memorial services were held on Sunday, October 6, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota. Steve was born on October 2, 1959, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital to Don and Elizabeth (Johnson) Dack. He was baptized and confirmed at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. He attended Clarkfield School, graduating in 1977. He was active in church and Sunday School; Boy Scout Troop #255; and sports including football, baseball, and wrestling. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Steve entered the United States Navy in July of 1977, where he spent over 22 years. Much of this time was spent in submarines, the U.S.S. Permit, the U.S.S. Ray and the U.S.S. Minneapolis and St. Paul. He retired from the United States Navy on January 31, 1999. Steven married Laurie Sheffield on June 2, 1995, at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. They lived at Chesapeake Bay, Virginia until they recently moved to Tennessee. Steve was employed at the Alcoa Co. at Alcoa, Tennessee. Steve is survived by his wife Laurie; son Brandon Lee; daughter Karington; and step-son Brandon Paul. He is also survived by parents, Don and Libby Dack of Clarkfield; sisters: Sue Moe of Brookings, South Dakota, Sharon (and Dewey) Pyle of Montevideo, Minnesota, Stephanie (and Paul) Saby of Farmington, Minnesota; and brother Scott Dack of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Also surviving are three nieces, three nephews, one great niece, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, four uncles, two aunts, and one cousin.
