Steve Edmunds was born September 19, 1901, to Allen Vinton Edmunds and Rose (Walle) Edmunds, in Terril, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith and for the past 25 years he has been a member of the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. On June 25, 1931, he was united in marriage to Gladys Johnson of Hazel Run by Pastor O.J. Erickson of Granite Falls, Minnesota. To this union four children were born. Following his years of school, he spent several years in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Flint, Michigan, before returning to Clarkfield where he began farming in 1931. Steve worked at the local creamery for four years before moving to their present farm east of Clarkfield, where he has been retired for the past six years. He passed away suddenly on Wenesday, January 31, 1973, at the age of 71 years. His death came quietly while returning home in a car from Minneapolis. Preceding him in death were his parents, and sister, Lillian (Mrs. Ervin Metag). He is survived by his wife, Gladys; one daughter, Marilyn (Mrs. Roger Nelson) of Albert Lea, Minnesota; three sons: Keith of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Ronald and Robert of Minneapolis, Minnesota; eight grandchildren: Daniel, David and Paul Edmunds, Julie, Jill, Jean, Ross and Reid Nelson; three brothers: Howard of Minneapolis, James of Snoqualmie, Washington, and Harry of Clarkfield; eight nieces and two nephews. He was a kind and loving husband and father.
