Stella Belle Arneson was born on a farm near Echo, Minnesota, on April 5, 1887, to Charles and Mary (McCormick) Chapman. She received her education in the Yellow Medicine County schools and grew to womanhood in Echo. She was united in marriage to Iver Arneson of Clarkfield on November 25, 1903. The young couple resided in Echo where he worked at the Chapman store. When the store was sold, they moved to Abercrombie, North Dakota, where they operated a confectionary business and hotel for nine years. In 1915, they started the restaurant business in Clarkfield and continued until 1945 when they retired and purchased their present home in northeast Clarkfield. It was at this home that Stella suddenly passed away on Tuesday morning, January 7, 1964, at the age of 76 years. The Arnesons observed their golden wedding and just last November observed their 60th anniversary. The couple was blessed with two children, both of whom survive, namely: Lyle Arneson of Minneapolis and Dorothy (Mrs. Henry Afdem) of Minneota. Besides her husband and children, she is survived by six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Lillian Bullivant and Mrs. Will Hartman, both of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Ingval Underlund of Willmar, Minnesota; and a host of other relatives and friends.
