William Kelm was born January 20, 1881, in Ratchin, Germany, one of twelve children born to Wilhelm and Louise (Ehrreich) Kelm. While the parents and some of their children remained in Germany, William, together with others of the family came to America, most of them settling in and around the Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota area. On October 26, 1904, Mr. Kelm was united in marriage to Louise Kammeyer at Boyd, Minnesota, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a little more than one year prior to his death. They resided continuously in the local community. To this union six children were born who survive their father. Death came Tuesday morning, November 15, 1955, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, where he had been taken just a few hours before. Mr. Kelm had attained an age of 74 years, nine months and 26 days. He is survived by his widow, six children: William, Jr. of Boyd, Arnold of Boyd, Leona (Mrs. Leonard Nehring) of Boyd, Edna (Mrs. Alfred Oien) of Boyd, Albert of Minneota, Minnesota, and Elmer, who is home; besides 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Julius Loose and Mrs. Leo Koepp of Boyd, Mrs. Henry Kammeyer of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and Mrs. Karl Hardin of Kiel, Germany; besides many nieces and nephews.
