Oscar N. Dotseth was born October 2, 1876, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Nels and Christine (Stenson) Dotseth. He was baptized by Rev. Johannes Berg and confirmed in St. Lucas Lutheran Church in 1892 by Rev. Torstenson. He attended country school in District 23 in Normania Township and attended Clarkfield School for a short time. He took a short course in engineering at Hopkins, Minnesota. On June 27, 1904, he was united in marriage to Susie Oraas by Rev. J.J. Salhus in Spring Creek Lutheran Church. To this union nine children were born, namely, Evalyn (Mrs. Murl Isaacs), Raymond, Irma (Mrs. Larry Lamkin) of Chicago, Illinois, Nuel, Owen, Esther (Mrs. Richard Nordmeyer) of Marshall, Minnesota, Oscar, Jr., Carol (Mrs. Charles Taylor) and Wanda (Mrs. Cliff Remmen) both of Minneapolis. His lifetime occupation was farming but he was also a thresher in the community for fifty years. He served on the church board for about 30 years, and on the school board in district 102 for the same number of years. In 1954 he retired from farming and moved to his home in Clarkfield. His health began to fail in the fall of 1958. He passed away at his home on February 27, 1959, at the age of 82 years, four months and 28 days. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, his children, sons and daughters-in-law, 27 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. John Vien, two brothers, Carl and Albert, besides a large number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, three brothers, one grandson and one great grandchild. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Blessed be his memory. IN MEMORY OF OSCAR N.
