Sophie Larson died at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, February 27, 1988. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 2, 1988, 11:00 a.m., at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota, Minnesota. Pastor Karl Hansen officiated with Val Buysee as organist and Rev. Bob Olson of Montevideo as soloist. Casket Bearers were Duane Christensen, Mark Dahl, Gordon Johnson, Allen Josephson, Danny Larson and August Lootens. Sophie Kompelien Larson was born September 19, 1893, at Minneota to the parents Knute Tollef and Siri Baverstuen Kompelien. She was baptized and on August 25, 1907 she was confirmed at the Hope Lutheran Church. Sophie attended the rural school in her district. On December 14, 1933, Sophie was married to Hjalmer August Larson in Minneota. She was a homemaker and attended her church aid and circle. After failing health they moved from their home in Clarkfield to Luther Haven in Montevideo. She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and five sisters.
