Obituary

Shirley Ann Shogren was born November 16, 1940, at Wood Lake, Minnesota, to John and Pearl (Erickson) Doose. She was baptized December 8, 1940, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wood Lake, Minnesota, and confirmed on May 30, 1954 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Boyd, Minnesota. Shirley attended school at Boyd and graduated from Brandon High School in Brandon, Minnesota. Shirley and Richard Shogren were married on August 3, 1959, at Dover, Delaware. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and following his discharge they moved to Alexandria, Minnesota. After several years, they moved to Indian Springs, Nevada, and lived there until Richard passed away. Shirley then returned to live in Boyd. Shirley passed away at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson, Minnesota, on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at the age of 67 years and 8 months. She is survived by her daughter Vanessa (Van) Kalina of Alexandria, Minnesota; son Jon (and special friend Christina) Shogren of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren: Bryan and Scott Kalina, and Jonathan Shogren; and step grandchildren: Robbie and Jeffery Jones and Anthony and Coy Gibson. She is also survived by her sisters: Arlene (Merle) Hahn and Violet (Virgil) Anderson, both of Boyd, Minnesota, Luvonne Priebe of Benson, Minnesota; and brother Gordon (Cheryl) Doose of Alexandria, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard; daughter Cassandra; grandsons Aaron and Benjamin Kalina; son-in-law Alan Kalina; and brothers John and Charles Doose. Blessed be her memory.
