Selmer Foss, 83, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died Wednesday, November 13, 1985, after a lingering illness. He had suffered emphysema and for several years was confined to his home. On April 23 he suffered a stroke and was hospitalized until six days before his death, when he was transferred to the Clarkfield Care Center. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 1985, at the Spring Creek Lutheran Church of Normania Township with Pastor Robert Lehrer officiating. Organist was Rhoda Nelson with solo by Ross Riecke. Casket Bearers were Erling, Marvin and Maurice Anderson, Telford Berg, Jerry Nikolaisen and Sherman Winson. Final Resting Place is the Spring Creek Cemetery, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was born August 26, 1902, to Hans and Gunhild (Hegne) Foss in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at the Spring Creek Lutheran Church and has been a lifelong member of that congregation. On January 24. 1928, he married Florence Paulson of Jackson, Minnesota, and they had two children, Gayle and Larry. They shared 57 years of marriage and lived in the rural Clarkfield area where they farmed until his retirement. He is survived by wife Florence, daughter Gayle and her husband Harold Johnson of Osseo, Minnesota, and Larry and his wife Phyllis of Champlin, Minnesota; six grandchildren, David Kise and his wife Linda of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Daryl Kise and his wife Nancy of Maple Grove, Minnesota, LaVonne Wiggins and her husband Joel of Crystal, Minnesota, Lori Kise and her friend Phillip Rohl of Osseo, Minnesota, Wendy Foss of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Cole Foss of Champlin, Minnesota; two great grandchildren John and Carrie Kise; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Theodore, Henry, Reuben and Oscar and sister Anna. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 Clarkfield Minnesota
