Selmer R. Emblem was born April 7, 1907, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, to parents Sam and Ragnild (Mork) Emblem. He was baptized at Israel Lutheran Church by T.J. Oppedahl and confirmed at the same church by Peder O. Wee on August 21, 1921. Selmer was engaged in farming in Yellow Medicine County all his life. He was also a lifelong member of Israel Lutheran Church where he was active on the church board and faithful in other church activities. He was united in marriage to Geneva Payne on September 28, 1946, at Clarkfield Lutheran Church by Rev. J.E.H. Aker. They observed their Silver Wedding Anniversary in September, 1971, at Israel Lutheran Church. Selmer had reached the age of 66 years when he passed away at his home on November 17, 1973, of a heart attack. Selmer is survived by his wife Geneva, two sisters, Mrs. Clara Wallen and Alma Emblem of Montevideo, one brother, Alfred of Clarkfield, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Clarence. IN MEMORY OF SELMER R.
