Selmer G. Anderson, 93, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died Friday, June 28, 1985, at the Clarkfield Care Center. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 1985, at Bergen Lutheran Church, Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with Rev. Wm. Klavetter officiating. At the funeral the soloist was Thoralf Benson with organist Kathy Larson. Congregational Hymns were "Beautiful Savior" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Casket Bearers were Oscar Enstad, Howard Gatchell, Howard Hultman, Douglas Nelson, Stanley Rache and Larry Schuler. Final Resting Place is the Bergen Lutheran Cemetery of Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was born December 6, 1891 to Gustav and Maran (Mattson) Anderson. He was the youngest of nine children and was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church - where he was a life-long member. He married Mabel Holton on November 11, 1915 and they had four children. He farmed all of his life and was a member of the Stony Run Light and Power Company, the beginning of electricity in rural America. He was a Stony Run Town Board member and served on the Wegdahl Elevator Board. He was a charter member of the Stony Run Farmers Union. In 1952 they moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota, and lived there until he entered the Clarkfield Care Center in 1980. He is survived by wife Mabel; sons Clifford and Wallace; daughter Marjorie (Mrs. Edwin) Flandrey of Montevideo, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and his 95-year old sister Minnie Amundsen of the Granite Falls Manor.
