Selma Korstad, age 87, passed away Tuesday morning, February 21, 1984, at Senior Haven Nursing Home, Canby, Minnesota. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 25, 1984, at 2:00 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church at Boyd, Minnesota. Pastor Scott Jorgenson officiated. Organist was Vernon Stevens and soloist was Thoralf Benson. Final Resting Place is St. John's Cemetery of Ten Mile Lake Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. Casket Bearers were nephews, Harvey Benson, Michael Korstad, David Danielson, Donald Schultz, Donald Korstad, LaVere Schultz. Selma was born September 5, 1896, to Hans P. and Syverina (Johanson) Haakenson on a farm in the Boyd community. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd. She lived in the Boyd community until failing health necessitated nursing home care. On December 28, 1915, she was united in marriage to Daniel Korstad by the Reverend J.M. Vick at the Ness parsonage at Madison, Minnesota. To this union were born six children. She is survived by her husband Daniel, son Hilman, daughter Blanche Benson, all from the Boyd area; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Edwin Haakenson of the Hacienda Convalescent Home, Long Beach, California; sisters, Helma Noyes of Montevideo, Minnesota, Agnes DeYapp of Ellendale, North Dakota, Julia Danielson of Starbuck, Minnesota, and Dagny, Mrs. Clayton Schultz of Montevideo, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Mabel (Mrs. Anton) Olson; brother Joseph; an infant sister; four sons, Earl, Sheridan, Clyde and Eldor; and two infant grandchildren.
