Obituary

Selma Hauge was born to Jens and Joanna (Wangnes) Hauge on February 8, 1892, on the family farm in Lisbon Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized March 7, 1892, and confirmed July 21, 1907, at the Bergen Church where she was a lifetime member. As a young woman she attended school at Windom Institute in Montevideo, Minnesota, and Moorhead State Teachers College. She taught elementary school in various school systems, the longest and most recent in Wood Lake, Minnesota. After her retirement, she resided at the farm home until several months ago when she moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, to live with her sister, Jennie. Miss Hauge passed away on Sunday, October 29, 1972, at the St. Joseph Hospital in St. Paul at the age of 80 years. She is survived by her sister, Jennie Lund of St. Paul; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ragna Hauge of Clarkfield, Minnesota; nieces and nephews: Mrs. Joanna Strobel of Moscow, Idaho, Mrs. John Steele of St. Paul, Art Lund of Wadena, Minnesota, Arley Lund of Park Rapids, Minnesota, and Harris Hauge of Monmouth, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Marcus, Helge, Carl, Ingebret and James; sisters: Ida, Clara, Hannah and Mable.
