Selma Marie Teig, daughter of S.J. and Karen (Shefveland) Haaland, was born July 30, 1894, in Humboldt County, Iowa. She was baptized in Lake Church there and confirmed in Slayton, Minnesota where the family lived at the time. Marie and Arthur Teig were united in marriage in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on September 27, 1931, where they lived for about five years. They then moved to Minnesota where they farmed in various communities, the last place being near Boyd. They retired from farming and moved to Boyd in 1969. Marie became a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota, in 1981 and passed away there on Thursday, October 18, 1990, at the age of 96. She was a member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Preceding Marie in death were her husband in 1987, her parents, three sisters and six brothers. Marie is survived by one sister, Clara Cunningham of Bandon, Oregon and one brother, Jewell Haaland of Clarkfield and several nieces and nephews.
