IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sebert
Severson
January 7, 1884 – March 14, 1966
Mr. Sebert Severson was born in Baron County, Wisconsin, on January 7, 1884, one of a family of ten children, his parents being Andres and Ragnild (Brenden) Severson. He passed away March 14, 1966, at the Clarkfield Nursing Home where he was admitted in January. He had previously been at the Clarkfield Hospital since October 31, 1965, as the result of a heart and circulatory ailment. The family moved to Lyon County, Minnesota, when Sebert was just two years old. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He attended school at Madison, Minnesota, and Canton, South Dakota. On November 24, 1909, he was untied in marriage to Bettie Caroline Anderson of Swede Prairie Township by Rev. Carl A. Larson. They began farming in Normania Township and also several years in Swede Prairie Township. In 1943 they retired to a home in Cottonwood, Minnesota, and he continued working for a time at the Elevator Company there. For the last twelve years since his wife's death, he has lived alone. Dearly missing her presence, he found his joy in visiting with old friends and young alike. He leaves to mourn his departure the following children: LeVerna (Mrs. Norman Reishus) of Cottonwood, Arvie of Hazel Run, Minnesota, Randine (Mrs. Jerome Hatlestad) of Minneapolis; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; the following sisters: Julia (Mrs. Otto Sween) of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Alma (Mrs. William Weise) of Minneapolis, and Mandy (Mrs. Julius Johnson) of Clarkfield; and a brother, Orvin Severson of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie; an infant son, Bennett; a daughter, Beatrice (Mrs. Eveard Berre), of Marshall, Minnesota; his parents; four brothers: Ole, Olbert, Andrew and Elmer Severson; and a sister, Enger (Mrs. Julius Sween).
