Sally Christine (Van DeWater) Olson passed away on Tuesday, October 27th, 2020 after a courageous battle with dementia. She is survived by her four children, Shawn (Pete) Moeller of Merrifield, MN, Natalie (Jay) McPhail of Hanley Falls, MN, Darren (Trish) Olson of Arizona, and Ingrid (Derek) Campbell of Canton, CT, 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Sally was born in Anchorage, AK on September 8, 1937 to Kenneth and Mildred (Boyes) Van DeWater. Sally and her family moved to Clarkfield, MN when she was a young girl. She met and married Ramon Duane Olson on June 10, 1956 and lived in Hanley Falls, MN where they farmed and raised their family.

Sally was a lifelong member of Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. For many years she was a leader in the vacation bible school and brought a new flavor of song and praise along with her guitar and her voice. She enjoyed trying new things. She took flying lessons and guitar lessons which she enjoyed very much. Sally was a lifelong member of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary Post 127 in Hanley Falls. When Sally was in her 40's she made the decision to return to school and become an LPN. In her 50's she went on to become an RN as nursing was her passion.  Her calling was taking care of the elderly patients who gave Sally great joy every day.  She was a nurse for over 20 years.  When she retired from nursing, she returned to the home farm where she raised her family to live with Natalie and her family for several years.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon; parents, Kenneth and Mildred Van DeWater, her father and mother-in-law, Roy and Helma Olson, and her brother Bill.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31st, 2020 at 10 AM at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls with visitation starting at 9 AM. Due to COVID-19 masks are required. Interment to follow in the West Yellow Medicine Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church General Fund.
