Sadie Ruth Hanson was born February 15, 1909 in Swede Prairie Township to Sam and Mary (Johnson) Norem. She attended rural school and Clarkfield High School. Sadie married Melvin Hanson on October 30, 1929 at Swede Home Church in rural Clarkfield. Melvin and Sadie settled in Montevideo for two years and then moved to Minneota before moving to Clarkfield in 1937, where she resided until the time of her death. She was a faithful member of the Community Bible Church in Montevideo and was a member of the Clarkfield Hospital Auxiliary. Sadie worked at the Clarkfield Care Center for 15 years. Her hobby was crocheting. She made many beautiful items that will be treasured forever. Sadie passed away on Sunday, January 11, 1998 at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 28 days. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Merlyn (Ruth) Hanson of Montevideo; Wesley (Angela) Hanson of Clara City; JoAnn (Marvin) Hildahl of Clarkfield; June (Marvin) Saby of Clarkfield; and Lorry Hanson of Clarkfield. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandsons, three brothers and four sisters. Blessed be her memory. Sadie will be remembered most of all for her love of reading her Bible. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
