Sadie Almira Nielsen was born on July 9, 1909, on a farm in Ten Mile Lake Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, to Albert and Clara (Johnson) Johnson. She attended District 90 Country School. Sadie was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, Minnesota. In 1935 she was united in marriage to Arthur Nielsen and together they farmed the Albert Johnson farm. To this marriage three children were born: Curtis, David and a daughter, Margaret Ann, who died at birth. In 1957 they moved to Cour d' Alene, Idaho, and in 1962 they moved to Westminster, Colorado. In 1975 they moved back to Minnesota, residing in Marshall for about two years before moving back to Clarkfield, Minnesota. Sadie passed away on Tuesday evening, April 24, 2001, at the Clarkfield Care Center, where she had been residing since January of 1996. She had reached the age of 91 years, 10 months, and 15 days. She is survived by her son David of Australia; daughter-in-law Ann of Marshall, Minnesota; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and her sister Agnes Cole. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant daughter; son Curtis; two brothers and a sister. Blessed be her memory.
