Ruth Agnes Vik, daughter of M. Olai and Katherine Hanson Vik was born in Clarkfield, Minnesota, June 22, 1898. She died June 13, 1954, at the Clarkfield Memorial Hospital, at the age of 55 years, eleven months and 22 days. Ruth was baptized at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church by Rev. O.C. Farseth and confirmed at the same church by Rev. O.T. Storaasli. She remained a faithful member of her church all her life. She was also a member of the Willing Workers, later the LDR. Her life was one of service to others. She cared for her parents all the years they needed her and found much joy in this -- her task. During Ruth's childhood and youth she endured much pain and suffering but through it all she could smile and take it as her lot in life. Of her it can truly be said, "She was a friend to all who came her way." She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mabel and one brother, Arthur. Those left to mourn her passing are five brothers and one sister: Dr. Melvin of Anoka, Minnesota, Theadore of St. Anthony, Idaho, Reuben and Olaf of Clarkfield, Henrik of Watertown, South Dakota, and Oliva (Mrs. A. Hendrickson) of Cresco, Iowa; four devoted sisters-in-law; fifteen nieces and nephews and two grand nieces. Ruth's last written words, found in her tablet were these: "The Lord is in his holy temple, let all the would be silent, let all the world be silent." Blessed be her memory.
