Ruth Alma Piipke was born October 30, 1914, to John and Ella Theide Marquardt. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township. Ruth attended the parochial school of Omro Township and became a confirmed member of the church. She was raised as the second oldest of four children. Ruth and Walter Piipke were married November 12, 1935. They farmed all of their lives and raised one daughter, Yvonne. She was active in the church choir and for many years was church custodian. Ruth died July 7, 1992 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Plainview, Minnesota, at the age of 77. Ruth has one sister Delia (Mrs. Karl Wiegers) of Bloomington, Minnesota; two brothers, Herbert of Glenwood, Minnesota, and George of Buffalo, Minnesota; her daughter Yvonne (Mrs. Bill Wohlers) of Plainview, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Noel, Brent, Todd and Rhonda; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1971 and her parents.
