Ruth Elizabeth Larson was born August 4, 1908, to Carl Axel and Emma (Knutson) Larson on a farm in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized at the Spring Creek Lutheran Church and confirmed at the Israel Lutheran Church. On May 31, 1930, Ruth was united in marriage to Oscar O. Nelson of rural Clarkfield, Minnesota. To this union two children were born, Joyce and Donna. Ruth's illness began only two days prior to her death. She passed away on Friday morning, July 26, 1985, at the Clarkfield Hospital, at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 22 days. Ruth was a member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Ruth enjoyed sharing her love and happiness with others. Her talents of child care and cleaning were shared by her twin sister, Ruby. Ruth is survived by her children, Joyce and husband Robert Nikolaisen of Canby, Minnesota, and Donna and her husband James Provost of Northfield, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Debra (Lon) Bencini, Cindy (Larry) Thoen, Steve Nikolaisen, Tami (Greg) Bothun, Chris (Dani) Provost, Kari Provost, and Scott Provost; five great grandchildren, Cori, Joey and Kristin Bothun, Emily and Kevin Thoen; seven sisters, Ellen Hanson, Madison, Minnesota, Esther (John) Kompelien, Minneota, Minnesota, Grace (Ray) Anderson, Willmar, Minnesota, Ruby Gordon, Edith (Arne) Berg, Gladys Soppeland, and Dorothy (Merle) Nikolaisen, all of Clarkfield; two brothers, Velmin (Amy) Larson and Olaf (Grace) Larson, both of Clarkfield; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Larson, Ednah Anderson and Jeanne Nelson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oscar and two brothers, Emil and Lloyd. Blessed be her memory. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 29, 1985, at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Pastor Gordon Trelstad officiating. Organist was Mrs. Karen Donner with Loren Norgaard soloist. Congregational Hymns were "Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." Casket Bearers were Lon Bencini, Greg Bothun, Steve Nikoliasen, Chris Provost, Scott Provost and Larry Thoen. Final Resting Place is the Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery, Clarkfield, Minnesota.
