Obituary

Ruth Ethel (Sturgeon) Lynner was born March 27, 1918, at Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, one of four children of John and Rachel (Ogilvie) Sturgeon. As a young girl, Ruth was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Montevideo, Minnesota. She attended rural school near Montevideo and high school in that city. She received her training in Cosmetology in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She worked as a beautician and also at Honeywell in Minneapolis. Ruth and Curtis C. Lynner were married on March 10, 1946, at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Clarkfield. Three children, Charles Curtis, Jean Louise, and Virginia Ruth were born to them. They farmed west of Clarkfield for many years, and Ruth was also a compassionate caregiver at the Clarkfield Care Center for 19 years. Ruth was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church, a member of the Clarkfield American Legion Auxiliary, and a past leader of the Tyro 4-H Club. Ruth enjoyed time spent with her family and friends, her flowers, making her house pretty, and was happy with the simple things that life brought her. We all enjoyed her sense of humor, and the spontaneous silly times she shared with her grandchildren. She was patient, kind, and had incredible energy. She was a loving wife, as well as a companion and friend to her husband of 60+ years. Ruth was a loving daughter to her parents and the best sister in the world to her brothers and their families. She was affectionately known as "Sissy". We will miss her dearly, and the memories she has given us will remain forever. She is survivved by her husband Curtis, three children: Charles Lynner of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jean Lynner of Clarkfield, and Virginia Wilson (and fiance Dave Schmitt) of Clarkfield; five grandchildren: Shelly (Brian) Prestholdt, Lukas (Jessie) Wilson, Kathie Lynner (Mike Arndorfer), Chad Lynner (Shauna Fogelberg), Alicia (Ty) Makek; six great-grandchildren: Braden and Garett Prestholdt, Mason and Carson Lynner, and Darrin and Adrian Malek. Also surviving are one brother Johnie Sturgeon and wife Ruth, sister-in-law Elaine Sturgeon, brothers-in-law James (Arlene) Lynner, Ed Lynner, and Bob Gordon and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceding her indeath were her parents, and brothers Myron and Woodrow. Ruth E. Lynner went to her heavenly home Saturday evening, May 13, 2006, surrounded by her loving family, at North Memorial Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as a result of a car accident.
