Obituary

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m., July 26, 1990, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd, Minnesota with Pastor Paul Christopher officiating. Soloist and organist is Vernon Stevens. Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield is in charge of the arrangements with interment in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Honorary pall bearers are Brad Hassel, Dan Hassel, Wally Oman Jr., Gary Hassel, Douglas Oman, Donald Bosaart, Roger Krogstad, David Oman, Bob Bosaart, Billy Bosaart, Victor Marquardt, Benjamin Leavell, Burdett Kise, Dick Reitzel, Jeff Marquardt, Eddie Leavell, Michael Reitzel, Phillip Krogstad, Keith Williams. Active pall bearers are Steve Hassel, Greg Sjolie, Dustin Leavell, Myran Nehring, Scott Theamlitz, Vern Lein. Mrs. Henrik (Ruth) Hassel passed away on July 23, 1990, at her home in Boyd, Minnesota, after suffering many years with diabetes. Ruth was 85 years of age. Ruth was born on July 12, 1905, in Lamberton, Minnesota and united in marriage to Henrik Hassel on February 2, 1934. To this union were born four children: Dennis Gene, Colette, Terrance Charles, and Brent Henrik. She resided in Boyd for the majority of her lifetime, where she was a homemaker and clerk for several of the Boyd Merchants. She sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School, and was secretary of the building fund for 10 years. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was elected treasurer for 10 years. She was active on the County election board. Ruth was also active in Senior Citizens until her passing. Ruth enjoyed flower gardening in many small plots adjacent to her home where the last eleven months of her life were brightened considerably by her granddaughter Kaia Lea. She is survived by her son, Brent; daughter-in-law Denice; granddaughter Kaia Lea; Nieces, Jean Lytle of Harlem, Georgia, JoAnn Paul of Silver Springs, Nevada, Opal Daniels of Anaheim, California; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by parents Julius Ling and Karen Josephine Ling Thompson; step- father, T.A. Thompson; husband Henrik; children Dennis, Colette and Terrance; sisters, Jeanette Densmore and Olga Flaa. Ruth was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
