Ruth Ordell Coover was born September 4, 1914, in Charles Mix County, Lake Andes, South Dakota, to parents Michael and Hannah (Nelson) Coover. She was baptized at the West Andes Lutheran Church by Rev. John Turmo. Her youth was spent in South Dakota until 1937 when the family moved to Minnesota where she grew to womanhood living with her mother, sisters and brother on a farm in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, where she attended services at Swede Home Lutheran Church. In 1948 following her mother's serious illness, Ruth took up residence at Faribault State School and Colony at Faribault, Minnesota. There she remained until November 28, 1967, when she was removed to the Anoka State Hospital to undergo surgery. There she passed away Sunday afternoon, December 17, 1967. Her death was attributed to pneumonia. Ruth's parents preceded her in death, her father on July 12, 1931, at Lake Andes, South Dakota, and her mother on June 23, 1952, at the home in Swede Prairie Township. She is survived by sisters: Irene (Mrs. Merton Young) of Marshall, Minnesota, Gladys (Mrs. J.A. Josefson) of Minneota, Minnesota, and Harriet (Mrs. Vernon Thostenson) of Breckenridge, Minnesota, and Iona (Mrs. Winfred Peterson) of Clarkfield; and brother, Quinton Coover of Clarkfield.
