Reuben M. Lee, son of Mathias and Jertina (Jacobson) Lee, was born September 15, 1895, at Clarkfield, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized by Pastor J. Strand and confirmed by Pastor O.T. Storaasli. He attended rural school in District 105 and the Clarkfield Public School. Rueben worked as a farm hand until he was drafted into the United States Army, June 23, 1918, and was assigned to Co. M 55th Infantry at Camp Grant, Illinois. He left September 9, 1918, for overseas duty in France and served in the front lines of the severest battles of the war. He returned to the states June 20, 1919, and received his honorable discharge June 27, 1919, at Camp Dodge, Iowa. Returning to Clarkfield, he resumed his farming operations until he retired due to his health. He entered the Soldiers Home at Fort Meade, South Dakota, the fall of 1959, and there passed away September 9, 1968, at the age of 72 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers. Surviving are five sisters and two brothers: Tillie (Mrs. William Feist) of Hazel Run, Mrs. Mattie Anderson, of Veblen, South Dakota, Thea (Mrs. Oscar Kopitzke) of Willmar, Minnesota, Sophia (Mrs. Melville Long) and Mrs. Clara Afdem of Clarkfield, Alfred of Montevideo, Minnesota, and George of Willmar, Minnesota. A number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends also survive. IN MEMORY OF REUBEN M.
