Rudolph Fred Warner was born November 15, 1908, to Fred and Emma (Bittler) Warner in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township and attended rural elementary school in Baxter Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. He married Agnes B. Piipke February 19, 1930, at St. John's Lutheran Church. Rudy and Agnes observed their 61st wedding anniversary one month ago. Rudy farmed in the Boyd, Minnesota, area all his life until his retirement for health reasons in 1971. He was an innovative farmer using new proven farming methods in crop rotation, seed selections and fertilizers. He was one of the first farmers in the area to change from grain shocks and bundle threshing to combining grain. Rudy and Agnes enjoyed traveling, especially spending winter months in a warmer climate. His most recent travels included overwintering at Glendale, Arizona in the Phoenix area. Other winter travel he enjoyed over the years were to Key West and Panama City, Florida, El Paso, Texas and Los Angeles, California area. Rudy was also very fond of Walleye fishing. His favorite fishing spots, with Agnes, his children, his brother and his friends, included Potato and Island Lakes in the Park Rapids, Minnesota area and Lake Minnewaska in the Starbuck, Minnesota area. Besides farming, he was fond of gardening. He enjoyed planting the seeds in the spring and watching the summer flowers and garden grow. He also took time from farming during W.W.II to work as a fireman on coal fired locomotives with the Great Northern Railroad at Willmar, Minnesota. During his winter travels he also worked as a machinist, ship builder and manufacturing airplanes in Florida, California and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Rudy served as a church officer at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Boyd, Minnesota. He was now a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Granite Falls, Minnesota, since residing in Granite Falls the past several years. Rudy and Agnes became residents of the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield, Minnesota, in November of 1988 and in November of 1990 they moved into the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson, Minnesota. Rudy died on Monday evening, March 11, 1991, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 82 years. He had been ill from emphysema and a heart condition for several years. Surviving Rudy are his wife, Agnes of the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson; four children, Myron and wife Margaret of Starbuck, Minnesota, Melrose Jarner and husband Daniel of Dawson, Minnesota, Dorothy Olson and husband Donald of St. Paul, Minnesota, and James and wife Connie of Edina, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, Timothy (and Patricia) Warner, Andrew and Aaron, Thomas (and Kristi) Warner, Jesse and Joshua, Kristin (and Lief) Olmanson, Patricia (and Toby) Bartalotta, Garret Paulus, Jr., Tiffany Paulus, Tracy Paulus, Talia Bartalotta, Mark (and Laure) Jarner, Andrew Griego, Valerie Griego, Derek Jarner, Donna (and Chuck) Guiswite, Tara and Tammy, Ann (and Stephen) Anderson, Sarah and Leura, David Jarner, Jalane (and Todd) Brickle, Jonathan (and Jennifer) Olson and Kaitlin, Jodena (and Pat) Olson, Cassandra Warner, Jason Warner, Suzanna Warner and Caroline Warner; one brother, Harold and wife Edna of Park Rapids, Minnesota. Preceding Rudy in death were his parents and one grandson, Andrew Warner.
