Ruben Ewalt Pipke was born August 10, 1915 at the home of his parents Edward and Elizabeth (Golnick) Pipke in Omro Township. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church on August 29, 1915 by Pastor Wm. Pankow and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran on May 18, 1930 by Pastor Heinrich Albrecht. Ruben attended St. John's Parochial School and District #80. Ruben entered the US Army on May 2, 1942 at Fort Snelling. He served during World War II and received the Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Bronze Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Arrowhead. He was discharged on November 13, 1945 at Camp Grant, Illinois. Ruben farmed with his brothers in Omro Township his entire life. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Ruben passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 1996 at the Canby Community Health Services at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 18 days. He is survived by his family: brothers Karl and Paul and sister Adele, all of Boyd, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward in 1955 and mother, Elizabeth in 1960.
