Roy Frederick Schulz was born Wednesday, September 28, 1921, at 3:55 A.M. on a farm near Clarkfield, Minnesota to Fred and Emma Schulz. Roy was baptized October 16, 1921 in the Evangelical Lutheran St. John's Church by Pastor Roy H. Vollmars of Omro. His Godparents were Walter Footh and Selma Abramowski. Roy was confirmed in the Redeemer Lutheran Church on July 21, 1935 by Pastor Wilby A. Poehler. On July 28,1945, Roy Schulz and Natalie Willander were joined in Holy Wedlock by Reverend Orvis Hanson at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. Roy served in the Army Air Corps for 3 1/2 years. The first 21 months he served in the medics, and the following time as an airplane mechanic. After Roy was discharged, he and Natalie lived in Minneapolis for awhile. They then lived in the Boyd area for a short time, where Roy and his Dad had a blacksmith shop. Later on, Roy and Natalie moved back to Minneapolis. Roy was a welder for St. Paul Hydraulic Hoist of St. Paul. He then was a mechanic and welder for Merchants Motor Freight for quite a number of years. From there, he was the head mechanic for the City of Brooklyn Park, MN for 13 years. Due to ill health, Roy retired on July 27, 1984. On March 23, 1995 Roy was taken by ambulance to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN. He was there one week. He came home by ambulance. He was home four days, and was then taken by ambulance to the Osseo Health Care Center where he was until the time of his death on January 27, 1996 at 6:20 a.m. Roy was 74 years old. Roy and Natalie were married 50 years on July 28, 1995. Roy is survived by his wife, Natalie, and one sister, Edna Schulz of Montevideo, MN. He is also survived by three aunts, Elsie Hilden of Clarkfield; Marie Hochhalter of Bloomington, IL; and Lydia Abramowski of Madison, MN. Roy was preceded in death by his Mother and Dad, Emma and Fred Schulz. Roy was a much loved man by many, and will be sadly missed. Long live his memory.
