Roy C. Roseth was born August 13, 1903, to Olaf and Anna (Kvam) Roseth on a farm near Butler, South Dakota. He grew up in the Butler and Lily, South Dakota area where he attended school and graduated from Lily High School. He graduated from Northern State College in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and finished his education at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion and at the University of Minnesota. Roy was united in marriage to Mabel K. Olson on June 10, 1928, at Bristol, South Dakota. Roy served as a Teacher, Coach and Superintendent in various communities including Seneca, South Dakota, Westport, South Dakota, Morristown, Minnesota, Clinton, Minnesota, Summit, South Dakota, Augustana Academy in Canton, South Dakota, Hanley Falls, Minnesota, Maynard, Minnesota, Bridgewater, South Dakota, and Boyd, Minnesota. Wherever Roy lived, he was an active church member. He was a member of the Lions Club, Toastmasters Club and the Men's Chorus. Roy was an avid sports fan, loving all sports, especially baseball. When he retired in 1972 he and Mabel moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota. In December of 1990, they moved to Hill Street Place in Marshall, Minnesota. On March 1, 1991, Roy entered Weiner Memorial Nursing Home in Marshall where he passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 1991 at the age of 87. Roy is survived by his wife, Mabel; three daughters and their husbands, Lois and Lloyd Amen of Canton, South Dakota, Gwen and David Herrick of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mavis and Lowell Gustafson of Hanley Falls, Minnesota; two grandsons, Douglas Amen, Dan Amen; five grandaughters, Dawn Herrick Peterson, Dana Herrick, Kathleen Gustafson Steinmetz, Kelly Gustafson Olson, Molly Gustafson Aalfs; four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Roy in death were his parents, five brothers and one sister.
