Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 8, 1988, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Boyd, Minnesota. Pastor Jeff Swanson officiated. Roy was laid to rest at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Boyd, Minnesota, August 8, 1988. Organist was Mrs. Minnie Hermanson. Soloist was Mr. Vernon Stevens who sang "Softly and Tenderly" and "Amazing Grace". Congregational hymns were "What a friend we have in Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art". Casket Bearers were John Hofmann, Paul Hofmann, James Hofmann, Ed Helgeson, Hilman Korstad and Armin Liebl. Roy Leo Hofmann was born May 23, 1911, to Fred and Margaretha Hofmann at Iowa Falls, Iowa. He moved with his parents to their farm south of Boyd in 1914, where he lived until his death. Roy attended School District #55 and graduated from Boyd High School in 1932. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in March, 1936 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd. He was united in marriage to Florence Stenson on September 14, 1935. To this union three sons were born, Earl of Brainerd, Minnesota, Gene of Dawson, Minnesota, and Gary of Boyd. Roy farmed most of his life, also drove school bus and served as custodian at the Boyd School. Roy served as a member of the school board, church board and belonged to the Dawson Saddle Club and the Upper Minnesota Valley Trail Riders Association. He is survived by his wife Florence; sons and families, Earl and Burnell, Gene and Janice, Gary and Wendy; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceding Roy in death were his parents.
