Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 1988 from Clarkfield Lutheran Church with Pastor Gordon A. Trelstad officiating. Organist was Karen Donner with soloist David Rupp. Casket Bearers were grandsons: Erick and Robert Andrisen, Frank Gabrelcik, John Montzka and Kelly and Keven Mullins. Final Resting Place was in Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery, Clarkfield, Minnesota. Rose Christine Andrisen was born April 16, 1897, in Starbuck,Minnesota, the daughter of Pope County pioneers Ove Andrew Johnson and his wife Sigrid Benedicti Svendsrud. She was baptized May 2, 1897, and confirmed June 25, 1911, by Rev. H.O. Koefod at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Rose attended grade school and high school in Starbuck and then attended the Minnesota State Normal School for teachers in Morris, Minnesota. Upon completion of her education, Rose moved to Bergen, North Dakota, where she accepted a job as teacher of grades one through eight in a rural one-room school house. Rose was married to Arthur M. Andrisen of Clarkfield on October 26, 1918, at the parsonage of the Reverend Theodore J. Lund in Minot, North Dakota. At the time of their marriage, her husband, Arthur, was serving in the U.S. Army. North Dakota was paralyzed by the great flu epidemic and the world was at war. Following the marriage ceremony, her husband, Arthur had to return to his military unit awaiting orders in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Rose remained in North Dakota until the end of the school year. The following year the couple made their home in Clarkfield where her husband was employed in the family's banking business. They continued to live in Clarkfield until 1947, one year after her husband Arthur's death. At that time she and her children moved to Sacred Heart, Minnesota, where she bought a family restaurant. In 1952 she sold the restaurant and moved to Montevideo, Minnesota, where she was employed as a cook in various area restaurants. In 1958 Rose moved to Minneapolis where she remained until her death. Due to ill health, the last three years of her life were spent at Lynwood Health Care Center. Rose was ninety-one years old at the time of her death on Saturday, August 13, 1988. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; three sons, Archie, Howard and Glen. She is survived by one daughter, Rose Ann (Mrs. Virgil Mullins) of Fridley , Minnesota; and three sons, Richard of Orlando, Florida, John of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, and Joseph of San Marcos, Texas, twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Hazel (Mrs. Richard) Toombs, of Olympia, Washington.
