Rosan Linora Meyer, 89, formerly of Cottonwood, Minnesota, passed away Monday, January 30, 1989, at the Weiner Memorial Nursing Home of Marshall, Minnesota. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 1989, at St. Lucas Lutheran Church of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with Pastor John T. Christiansen officiating. Organist was Diane Gregoire with vocal music by Henry Broughton. Burial was in the Cottonwood Cemetery, Cottonwood, Minnesota. Serving as Honorary Casket Bearers were Johannes Anderson, Cecil Hofteig, Marvin Maronde, Clarence Mohn, Edward Traen and Harold Wegener. Active Casket Bearers were Byron and James Kompelien, Larry and Leroy Neuman and Kerry and Ross Thompson. Rosan was born in Westerheim Township, Lyon County, Minnesota, on September 4, 1899, the daughter of Thore and Isabelle (Iverson) Thompson. She was baptized October 1, 1899, and confirmed June 7, 1914, both at St. Lucas Lutheran Church of Normania Township. On May 8, 1924, Rosan was united in marriage to Roy Meyer. They lived near Lynd and Marshall until 1941, when they moved to rural Cottonwood. Her husband died in 1958 and she had resided at the Weiner Memorial Nursing Home of Marshall for the past five years. Rosan belonged to the Sunshine Club for many years and enjoyed knitting and visiting. She took kind care of family members during their illnesses and always welcomed friends and relatives into her home. She was a lifetime member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church. Rosan is survived by her brother, Marvin Thompson of Marshall and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, three sisters and two brothers.
