Robert W. Heimark was born on August 11, 1928, in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Clarence and Mabel (Monson) Heimark. He was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church. He graduated from Clarkfield High School and St. Cloud State College with a degree in education. He served two years in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot of B47 jets during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955 as a 1st lieutenant. Bob married Geraldine Bode on October 1, 1955. They farmed and in 1966 he joined the Lutheran Brotherhood Co. as a salesman and relocated to Anchorage, Alaska, for five years. He then moved to John Hancock insurance which brought them to England for two years, returning to Montevideo through Lutheran Brotherhood. He returned to farming part-time and after five years he retired from farming and insurance. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing at their lake home on Lake Minnewaska and traveling. Robert passed away February 9, 2007, at his home in Montevideo, at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his wife, Geri and children: Ruth (and Brian) Akre of Zimmerman, Minnesota, and Randal (and Colleen) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; grandson, Grant Akre; and his sister Eleanor (and Adrian) Johnson of Faribault, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents; one child; two brothers: Charles and Clark; and one sister, Mae O'Brien.
