Robert August Hansen was born on June 23, 1934, in Lac Qui Parle County, MN, to parents Arthur and Alice (Giese) Hansen. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Bellingham, MN. He attended grade school in Louisburg, MN and graduated from the Appleton High School in 1952. In 1955 he married Janice Forsberg of Appleton, MN, and to this union four children were born. Robert farmed with his father and he worked as a custodian at the Bellingham Public School for six years. He worked at the elevator in Hazel Run, MN from 1969 until 1996 when he retired. He loved time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Hazel Run Lutheran Church and a member of the Hazel Run Fire Department.

Robert passed away on Thursday, October 20th, 2022 at the age of 88 at the Avera Hospital in Granite Falls. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alice Hansen; siblings, Elvera and Alan; parents-in-law, Harold and Bernice Forsberg; brothers-in-law, David Forsberg and Byron Marquart, and sister-in-law, Ruth Hansen.

Robert is survived by his wife, Janice Hansen; children, Jane (Jeff) Miller of Willmar, MN, David (Janet) Hansen of Arlington, MN, Patricia (Charles) Savoie of Hanley Falls, MN, and Richard (Lynn) Hansen of Hanley Falls, MN; grandchildren, Alicia Madsen (Aaron Bonnema), Zachary (Rachel) Miller, Eric Hansen, Adam Hansen, Timothy (Amanda) Stengel, Erica (Jeff) Vierstraete, Angela Savoie, Amanda (Corey) Ludwig, Bryce (Miranda) Hansen, and Brady Hansen; great-grandchildren, Logan, Brooke, Eli, Ava, Mia, Jackson, Adam, Lexi, Mackenzie, Austin, Izaiah, David, Sophia, Alexander, Madasyn, Henry, Japheth, Kara, Zephaniah, and Baby Miller on the way; sister, Jean Weigers; brother-in-law, Alan (Kathy) Forsberg; sister-in-law, Ann (Lyn) Hanson, and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 29th, 2022 at 10 AM at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church, followed by the funeral service at 11 AM. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
