Robert Harris Haaland was born December 5, 1926, the son of Oswald and Ida (Haugen) Haaland, on his grandfather's farm near Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was baptized December 23, 1926, by Rev. O.M.O. Wee and was confirmed by Rev. J.E.H. Akre on May 4, 1941. He passed away following a serious illness (acute Nephritis) at the Fairview Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Palm Sunday at 1:42 a.m., April 2, 1950. He was 23 years, three months and 27 days at the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his departure his father and mother, his aged grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Iver Haugen and a large number of uncles, aunts and cousins, besides many friends. As a boy he attended public and parochial school, also the local high school at Clarkfield. He was engaged in farming together with his father on his grandfather's farm in Friendship Township, when he became ill. Bob was known to his friends as a cheerful and likeable young man. He was especially fond of children and was thoughtful of and enjoyed the companionship of elderly people. Although Bob's death seemed untimely we believe God's purpose for his life was accomplished; his testimony of peace in Christ during his last days on earth helped those who had the privilege of talking with him, to be strengthened in their faith. He often spoke of the peace he had in his heart because of the Light of Christ had become real to him. Blessed be his memory.
