Robert James Brock was born in Woolstock, Iowa, on June 12, 1914, to parents Charlie and Annie (Sharkey) Brock. He was baptized on July 18, 1937, at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Bob attended Country School until the 8th grade. Bob moved to Hanley Falls to his Uncle Will Sharkey's, where he helped farm and drove truck for H.W. Sharkey. Bob served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, at the age of 20, where he worked in Northern Minnesota. He returned to work at Sharkey Trucking, which during this time he dated Evelyn Smolley. Bob and Evelyn were united in marriage on February 11, 1940, at the Clarkfield Norwegian Church. To this union three children were born: Anita Jane, Roger James, and Charles Alvin. Bob served on the Friendship Township Board, Clarkfield Creamery Board, 4-H Advisor and numerous church boards at Clarkfield Lutheran. He enjoyed farming, watching sports, fishing, and spending time with his family. Bob became a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center in February of 2002. He passed away at the Care Center on Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 19 days. He is survived by his daughter Anita (and Arlen) Roder of Sycamore, Illinois, and sons Roger (and Marcia) Brock and Charles (and Mary) Brock of Clarkfield. Also surviving are grandchildren: Mark (and Penny) Roder of Rock Falls, Illinois, Pam (and Richard) Carlson of Mesa, Arizona, Vicki (and Peter) Strand of Dawson, Minnesota, Christin (and Mark) Jordahl of Madison, Minnesota, Darin (and Stephanie) Brock of Clarkfield, and Nathan Brock (and fiancee Rebecca Kissner) of Fargo, North Dakota. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Richie, Sierra, and Mallory Carlson, Danielle, and Alyssa Strand, Dalton, and Dylan Palmer, and Kaia Jordahl and many nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers and two sisters.
