Obituary

Richard A. (Pex) Lynne, 71, of 718 Monroe St., Black River Falls, died Saturday morning, September 26,1998 in his home. Richard Andre Lynne was born on April 8, 1927 to Arden and Esther (Anderson) Lynne in Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Clarkfield (Norwegian) Lutheran Church and graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1945. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and later attended Gustavus Adolphus College. He married the former Lila Wilson on June 26, 1949 in Hazel Run, MN. Richard's career was completely involved with co-operatives, starting while he was still in high school when he worked for Consumers Co-op in Clarkfield. After the Navy and college, he was on the field staff of Cenex and later managed the Cottonwood Co-op Oil Company of Cottonwood, MN for sixteen years (1957-1973). In 1973, he returned to the field staff of Cenex, first in Watertown, South Dakota, and in 1974 became the regional manager for Wisconsin. He and his family moved to Black River Falls in 1974. He was on the board of the Wisconsin Federation of Co-operatives, and had served on the Black River Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and the Black River Falls City Utility Commission. He organized the Senior Golf League at Skyline Golf Course, Black River Falls, which was later named the Dick Lynne Scramble. He was a member of the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Miles-Hagen American Legion Post #200, and the Democratic Party, and was a past president of the Cottonwood Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Lila; two sons, Rick (Yany), stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany, and Andrew, of Burnsville, MN; a granddaughter, Erica; three sisters, Mary (John) Solien, of Aitkin, MN, Margaret Weingartner, of Denver, CO, and Elizabeth (Harry) Nordwig, of Medara, CA; two brothers, Arden (Ethel) Lynne, Jr., of Clarkfield, MN, and Stanley (Shirley) Lynne, of Ortonville, MN; a sister-in-law, Blanche Simpson, of Clarkfield, MN; an aunt, Agnes Anderson, of Minneapolis, MN; an uncle Ralph (Gladys) Andersen, all of Minneapolis, MN; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Wesley and Ralph, and a niece, Ann. Memorial services will be Friday, October 2, 1998 at 2 p.m.. from the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Erik Zingelman officiating. Burial with military honors will be on Saturday, October 3, 1998 in the Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery, Clarkfield, MN at 3 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Red Cross, or the Jackson County (Wisconsin) Chapter of the American Cancer Society. The Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, and the Lynner Funeral Home, Clarkfield are serving the family.
