Reka Emelia Olson Roedl was born November 26, 1881, in Tyro Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, of the parents Bengt and Pernilla (Severson) Olson. She attended rural school in Tyro Township and then furthered her education in Clarkfield, Teachers Training in Madison Normal and also at Mankato College. She taught school for fifteen years. On February 21, 1916, she was united in marriage to Frances X. Roedl of Flasher, North Dakota. Mr. Roedl had acquired a homestead on which they lived for eighteen years. In 1935, they moved to Wadena, Minnesota, where they farmed for ten years. Mr. Roedl passed away on December 31, 1949. Mrs. Roedl and daughter Evelyn then moved to Clarkfield in 1950 where they enjoyed their home and neighborhood very much. Reka had remarkable health until July of this year when she was admitted to a hospital for the first time in her life. Death came on October 12, 1972, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, at the age of 90 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Olaf, Henry and Ernest; four sisters: Christine (Mrs. Oscar Pehrson), Anna (Mrs. P.O. Rodness), Emma and Elizabeth. She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn; one sister, Selma Devereaux of Wadena; two nieces and three nephews. In Memory Of REKA E.
