Reed O. Lovsness May 1, 1925 ~ August 21, 2015 Reed O. Lovsness was born in Cottonwood, Minnesota, on May 1, 1925, to parents Louis and Ellen (Skaros) Lovsness. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, where he was a lifelong member. Reed graduated from Cottonwood High School with the class of 1943. Reed played Professional Baseball with the Pittsburg Pirates from 1948-1950. He entered the U.S. Army in October, 1950, and served with the Company B 165th Infantry until he was discharged in 1952. Reed and Betty Rickard were married on June 15, 1951, in Denver, Colorado. They returned to the family farm in 1953 and farmed west of Cottonwood until he retired from raising crops and cattle with Betty and their sons, Lindon and Kirk. He enjoyed gardening and tending his fruit trees and baseball. He made many friends through his interest in baseball and farming and enjoyed visiting with them. Reed passed away on Friday afternoon, August 21, 2015, at the Minneota Manor at the age of 90 years 3 months and 20 days. He is survived by his wife Betty; sons: Lindon Lovsness and children Jackson and Josephine and Kirk Lovsness (wife Valerie) and children: Andrew and Molly all of Cottonwood; and daughter, Carla Paxton (Gene) of Letts, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Rollan Lovsness. In Loving Memory of Reed O.
