Raymond George Weeks was born September 29, 1905, to George Eber and Hilda (Anderson) Weeks at Wood Lake, Minnesota. He passed away Sunday, June 4, 1989, at Weiner Memorial Hospital, Marshall, Minnesota, at the age of 83. Raymond was baptized December 24, 1905, at Wood Lake and confirmed at Gilford, Montana. He graduated from Clarkfield High School, Clarkfield, Minnesota, May 29, 1925. He farmed in Montana and in 1931 enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the Philippine Islands for three years. On March 19, 1935, he married Mabel Jeanette Cole at the home of her parents, Lewis and Hannah Cole by Rev. Alf W. Jorgenson. The couple farmed near Hanley Falls, Minnesota, for 18 years. In 1955 they left the farm and purchased a cafe, "Week's Cafe" in Ruthton, Minnesota. In 1960 they moved to Clarkfield where Raymond was employed as a surveyor and appraiser for drainage ditches. He was also Clarkfield City Assessor and Weed Inspector for several years. He served as deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher at both Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church of Hanley Falls and Clarkfield Lutheran Church where he was presently a member. Raymond was a lover of life and especially children and shared candy with many who called him "Grandpa Ray, the Candy Man". He was a avid lover of sports and attended local and regional sporting events and watched his grandson's play in three national softball tournaments. He found great comfort in listening to hymns. He was not afraid of sharing his faith in our Lord and Savior with all those around him.
