Raymond D. Miller was born April 25, 1922 at the home of his parents Clarence and Alma (Parker) Miller in Parnell, Missouri. He came to Clarkfield, Minnesota at a very young age and was baptized and later confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Ray served in the Armed Forces during World War II in the Pacific and was highly decorated and honorably discharged in 1945. On November 4, 1945, Ray married Mabel Jorgenson of Clarkfield. Their Children: Judy Koepp and Gene Miller reside at Marshall and Edgerton, Minnesota respectively. Ray and Mabel had resided on their farm for the past 49 years where Ray was involved in farming and carpentry work until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church, American Legion, VFW, DAV, and Clerk of Friendship Township. Ray enjoyed working with wood and especially enjoyed his family: his children, grandchildren, and great grandson. Ray passed away on Thursday evening May 11, 1995, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 73 years and 28 days. He is survived by his wife Mabel and children: Judy (and Maynard) Koepp and Gene (and Lilly) Miller; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also is survived by sisters: Viola Musick, Verla (Arlo) Reynolds, Dolly (John) Corum, Eurma Ray, and brothers: Arthur (Mayetta) Miller, Jack Miller, Dean (Joann) Miller, and brothers-in-law: Dennis (Beulah) Jorgenson, Dale (Laura) Jorgenson, sisters-in-law: Edith Jorgenson and Doris Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Beulah Jordan, and brothers: Dale and Clarence Miller. Ray gave himself in the defense of his country, his obligation to the township and his love and devotion to his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and those who served with him in time of conflict and lived and worked with him during his life. Blessed be his memory.
