Raymond William Lachelt was born July 21, 1933, to parents Otto and Minerva (Biel) Lachelt at their farm home in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Pastor Louis Rosin baptized Raymond as an infant and later confirmed him. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. Raymond attended rural school and St. John's Lutheran School. He received his high school education at Clarkfield, Minnesota, and graduated in 1951. He attended Concordia College for one year. Ray's adult life was spent farming near Clarkfield. He did some gardening and sold the produce. He enjoyed going to auction sales and spent time at the Senior Center in Montevideo, Minnesota. He was on the Board of the Senior Center. He also enjoyed going to the library and reading. Ray continued to live on the home farm after his parents died. His mother died in 1986 and his father in 2000. Ray became ill with cancer and became a resident of Luther Haven at Montevideo in February of 2003. He resided there until his death on July 26, 2003, reaching the age of 70 years and 4 days. He leaves to mourn his cousins and friends.
