Raymond Ernest Miller, the son of Lewis and Hedwig (Schroeder) Miller, was born December 21, 1896, at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was baptized on September 9, 1897, at Webster City, Iowa, and confirmed May 16, 1915, by M.F. Mompsen in the Lutheran faith. On September 19, 1923, he was united in marriage to Blenda Ree of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. Most of his life he was engaged in farming northwest of Cottonwood. He also did sales work. Since 1959, he and his wife have made their home in Cottonwood. For the past several years, his health had been failing. A year ago he had malignant surgery. He was hospitalized again September 25, 1972, and passed away the evening of October 18, 1972. He is survived by his wife, Blenda; his daughter, Ardys (Mrs. Roger Hjerpe) of St. Paul, Minnesota; and his son, Lewon, in the United States Air Force, stationed in West Berlin, Germany. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Cindy and Bruce Hjerpe and Terri and Ronnie Miller; his sister, Carlene (Mrs. Scott Vollmer) of Lamont, Oklahoma; and his brother, Otto of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Harlow; his parents; his sister, Ethel (Mrs. Ben Spong) of Marshall, Minnesota; and his brother, Erwin Miller of Webster City, Iowa. IN MEMORY OF RAY E.
