Rachel Margarethe Olsen was born March 31, 1894, in Oslo, Norway. Her parents were Hans and Helle Louise (Klovness) Olsen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Oslo. Rachel was united in marriage to Olaus M. Kirkeby on August 9, 1949. Prior to coming to the United States, Rachel was employed at a large department store "Steen and Strom" in Oslo for 27 years. Mrs. Kirkeby suffered a broken hip in a fall at her home on May 31, 1973, and passed away on June 7, 1973, at the Clarkfield Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Inga Kirkeby and Laura Olsen; one brother, Hans. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Olaus, eight stepchildren, several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Jennie O. Lindgren of Chicago, Illinois, and Louise Olsen of Oslo, Norway. Blessed be her memory. IN MEMORY OF MRS. OLAUS M.
