IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Quam. Erma
Iona (Svenungson)
September 24, 1914 – October 1, 1939
Erma Iona Quam was born September 24, 1914, the daughter of Sever and Lorinda (Kittelson) Svenungson. She was baptized by Rev. Shutts, at Stanley, North Dakota. At age two, she moved with her parents to Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Here she grew to young girlhood, was confirmed by Rev. Ole Lokensgaard, and attended the Hanley Falls public schools. After graduating from high school there with the class of 1932, Erma took up nurses' training at the Vocational School in Minneapolis. She completed that course in June, 1939, after which she practiced her profession in the Twin Cities. On October 15, 1941, Erma Svenungson was united in marriage to Mr. Ishmael Quam of Clarkfield To this union four children were born, one preceding her in death. Her father died in October, 1939. Erma was a kind and loving wife and mother, whose home and family were her greatest interest. She was an active member of the Spring Creek Lutheran Church, and the ladies aid, and also took part in other community activities as much as her health would permit. Mrs. Quam passed away late in the afternoon of February 19, 1951, death resulting from a paralytic stroke, at the age of 36 years, four months and 25 days. Left to mourn her departure are her husband; three children: Elaine, Norma and Grant; her mother; one brother, Omar; four aunts; four uncles; besides a host of other relatives and friends.
