Philemon Theron Anderson, son of Peter and Thurena (Halvorson) Anderson was born May 4, 1905, on the farm at which he still resided. He was baptized and confirmed by Rev. John Salhus at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. On December 29, 1923, he was united in marriage to Ella Hanson of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He farmed until two years ago. He served 38 years as Hazel Run Township Clerk and was very influential in maintaining the Yellow Medicine County Township organization. He was much concerned with government at the local level. His health caused his retirement from the town board at the last election. Mr. Anderson passed away Saturday, June 22, 1968, at the Granite Falls Hospital, at the age of 63 years, after an illness of many years. He is survived by his wife, Ella; one son, Verdell, of Oceanside, California; three daughters: Doris (Mrs. Donald Bjornstad) of Moorhead, Minnesota, Leola (Mrs. Duane Emery) of Richland, Washington, Arla (Mrs. Wynstan Boe) of Cottonwood, Minnesota; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters: Mattie (Mrs. T.C. Anderson) of Granite Falls, and Lue (Mrs. Oscar Lilleskov) of Minneapolis. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Beaulah; two brothers: Alhe and Eugene. IN MEMORY OF PHILEMON T.
